- To design and implement a reusable digital PID controller in Verilog HDL that can be integrated into different closed-loop control systems without modifying the core control logic.
- To develop a complete FPGA-based DC motor control architecture using encoder feedback, PWM generation, and direction control, demonstrating precise speed and motion regulation.
- To design an FPGA-based temperature control system by adapting the same PID controller to a thermal process, validating its effectiveness for slow and nonlinear system dynamics.
- To perform functional verification and hardware synthesis of both control architectures using ModelSim and Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA, ensuring correct real-time operation and hardware feasibility.
- To analyze and compare the performance and hardware resource utilization of the two novel architectures, proving the scalability and versatility of the proposed PID-based FPGA designs.
